Carly Janiga Biography

Carly Janiga (1988 - Living or Unknown) - American gymnast

Carly Janiga (born October 19, 1988), is an American gymnast who is a medal hopeful for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

A Paradise Valley, Arizona native, she belongs to the Desert Devils Gymnastics club in Mesa. She is the youngest American hopeful for a medal at the upcoming Olympics.

Janiga did not see much competition in 2003 because of a heel injury, missing the Gymnastic World championships.

Janiga has been featured on magazines such as Inside Gymnastics.

According to Tim Daggert, who was a 1984 gold medal winner himself, Martha Karolyi, United States gymnastics Olympic team chooser and wife of legendary Bela Karolyi, likes Janiga a lot. He told the Arizona Republic that "I don't pick the team, Martha Karolyi does, and Martha Karolyi likes her a lot".

Janiga's coach, Geoff Eaton, told the same newspaper that "If anything, pressure drives her and she'll be better at championships".
