Dan Gable (1948 - Living or Unknown) - amateur wrestling champion, coach


Dan Gable (born October 25, 1948), he is known as the Babe Ruth of Wrestling. He went undefeated in Highschool and only lost his last collegic match. His overall career wrestling record of 118-1 at Iowa State University, where he was a 2-time NCAA champion (1968,1969) and tourney MVP in 1969 (137 lbs); won gold medal (149 lbs) at 1972 Olympics without letting a single person score a point against him. He went onto coach U.S. freestyle team in 1988; and coach Iowa to 9 straight NCAA titles (1978-1986) and 15 overall in 21 years.
